The Okotoks Oilers put the brakes on their three game losing skid with a 4-3 win over the Grizzlys Tuesday, January 24, in Okotoks.

Up by scores of 3-1 and 4-2 at times, the Oilers kept letting the Grizzlys hang around and Captain Jordie Lawson says they need to stop that.

"I think we've got to figure out how to finish teams and not let them hang around. We got a good first period, a good start with three goals in the first. We've got to carry that out through the whole game and then we'll be more successful."

Trey Degraaf and Colby Livingstone with singles and Lawson with a pair, including the winner early in the third period, were the Oilers goal scorers.

The Oilers still have a busy stretch over the next couple of weeks that will see them play some tough games.

Lawson says they have a plan.

"We thought that if we treat them all like a Brooks, that's what we're kind of doing going forward. Taking every game like we're playing Brooks and if we do that it should put us in a good spot in the standings. We want to have a good finish to the year."

The win moves the Oilers back in sole possession of second spot in the AJHL's South Division with 61 points, two up on the third place Calgary Canucks.

The Oilers and Grizzlys hook up again Saturday, January 28, in Olds.
