It's another win for the Okotoks Oilers last night!

A 4-1 victory over the Sherwood Park Crusaders gives the Oilers another two points and puts us at 3-1 record for the week.

Although it was a slow start, a big fight in the 2nd period between Oiler Ryan Roberts and Crusader Ben Sowa seemed to change the momentum for the Oilers.  They scored three goals in the 2nd and 1 goal in the 3rd period.

Oilers forward Jordan Xavier says they need to work on coming out strong from the beginning.

"It was a little bit of a slow start, I mean the last few games we've had some slow starts but our second and thirds have been really well." Xavier says "We close it out well but definitely in the future we need to be better in the first period."

When it came to a big shift in momentum a good fight for the right reasons seem to do the trick. Xavier says Roberts dropping the gloves was a huge change for the team.

"Oh yea! That changed that game. Robbie made a good play stepping up and it was a good clean hit, you know he answered the bell." Xavier adds "For a rookie he holds his own really well and that fight was huge for us."

Xavier has been in a bit of a slump lately, as he hasn't gotten any points in the last three games for goals or assists. He hopefully broke that up last night, the Oilers forward scored the fourth goal in the 3rd period to lock up the win for Okotoks.

He says it might feel good for him to be scoring again, but a team win is more important then individual goals.

"It feels good, definitely! More importantly was the two points tonight, it was a big 4-1 win." Xavier says "These north games are huge, we only play these guys twice a year so to really get something going against these guys and just dominate is good."

The Oilers are off for a couple of days and then they head to Drumheller to take on the Dragons on Wed. the 11th.
