Anyone driving by the High River Ag grounds lately will have noticed a new structure.

Rogers Communications is installing a new cell tower on town land on the old airstrip there.

The town is receiving $10,000 a year in lease payments for the first five years and the amount increases by 15 per cent in five-year increments after that.

At the time council approved the agreement Rogers said the community would benefit from improved cell coverage in the northwest and surrounding rural areas of town.

Delays because of supply chain issues and COVID pushed back the installation date.
