The fundraising efforts for embattled Okotoks area landowner, Eddie Maurice, are moving ahead quickly.

Six days after launching a "FundRazr" campaign, they're closing in on their $50,000 goal.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney was one of the first to contribute to the fund as he threw in $100, adding "So sorry you're going through this" to the comments.

Former Reform Party MP, Diane Ablonczy pitched in $200, while Dragons Den Alumni, and Nashville Predators Owner, W. Brett Wilson, kicked in $2500 to help Maurice mount a defence.

He's being sued for $100,000, by the man convicted of being on his property early one morning back in February of 2018.

Maurice, who says he feared for the safety of himself and his young child, who were alone that morning, fired two warning shots at Ryan Watson and Stephanie Ann Martens, with a ricochet hitting Watson in the arm.

Maurice was arrested, but was cleared when the Crown withdrew the charges in June 2018.

Watson, pled guilty to charges of mischief and failing to comply with a court order.

Maurice has yet to file a statement of defence.
