The reality of winning at the CFR is still sinking in for a couple of local cowboys.

Okotoks bull rider Jordan Hansen took the title Sunday, November 13, and says it was last Friday during the second go-round that he first had a inkling he could win it all.

"Definitely an interesting year, being out as long as I was and coming back to have the finals I did, I feel pretty fortunate that's for sure. I think probably after my second ride and placing in the round, that definitely boosted the confidence and got me feeling pretty good for the rest of the week."

Nanton's Clay Elliot was another local champ, as he took the saddle bronc title.

He says he thought he got some pretty good horses under him through the week, which really helped him in his win.

"That's kind of where I kept my mind the whole time this week was just on the bucking horses. I left it up to the media and the announcers and everybody else to let me know how I was doing as far as points or money-wise go. I think that's what did it for me. I was very pleased to have drawn the right horses and stayed on."

He'll head to the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas next month.
