September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.  Not a feel good topic to bring up on the radio.  Not an easy conversation to have with a Mom whose little girl is fighting for her life.  But as a community we have to rally behind those in our neighbourhoods who need love.

We proudly introduce to you today - Macey.

Macey is 2 1/2 years old and battling leukemia.

Caitlin Bangsund from Okotoks shared her family's story with us.  She takes us back to December when they found out the news.

Macey and her two brothers.

It's not always easy to know what to say, what to do and how to help families going through this. Caitlin shares how you can

Each time Macey goes through a treatment, transfusion or needle at the hospital she gets a bead. There has been over 300 for her.

Approaching 10 months of treatment, Macey is responding well and technically is in remission.

There are a couple of ways you can support this family and many others in the Foothills.  You can find out more about The Macey Project or take part in the Light the Night Walk.

Thank you Caitlin for sharing with us.
