An Okotoks boy got to live his dream through the Make-A-Wish program and is now looking to give back.

Euan Elsom was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Myhre Syndrome last May, a syndrome so rare that only 5 children across Canada have been affected with Euan being the only child in Alberta.

Euans mother Sammantha says when they first found out they learned just how little was known about the syndrome "The nearest specialist lives in Boston." Elson says.

Euan got to live out his dreams through the Make-A-Wish program.

"Dy Kylm said she put our name forward...we received a phone call from Make-A-Wish southern Alberta saying that Euan's application was successful. Euan has been very passionate for a long time about orcas, he has posters and even on the day that we met with the lady from Make-A-Wish he was wearing an orca tee-shirt, that's his thing, orca's and transformers."

Euan and his family were then set up to go down to San Diego to go to SeaWorld to see the orcas and the rest of SeaWorld, Sammantha says it was a great couple of days to get away from everything.

"It really took us away from the everyday, it took him away from appointments, it was really nice to be centred around Euan without being appointment-based or diagnosis-based, it was just there for him to go and enjoy what he loved and to be the centre of attention."

Elsom says they are now in the process of raising money for the Make-A-Wish foundation to give back.

Euans father Ian Elsom started a "Rope for Hope" support page to help raise money for other kids to live their dreams through Make-A-Wish.

He will be repelling down the Sheraton Eau Claire in Calgary September 17th.
