The "Hockey Family" is a way to describe the wonderful people who share the love of the game.

The families that transport, participate, cheer and fund the awesome game we all love in Canada.

Because of the spirit for the game in Canada several others including our friends to the south have

picked up and enjoyed this awesome game played in the frigid North and now in the warmest of

climates too.  Where there is a will there is a way to play hockey.  Road Hockey & Roller Hockey

are great forms of the game played on ice but the one played on the frozen pond is the one Canadians

all know and love the best.  The friends we meet at the games, tournaments and banquets honoring

hockey and those who play make us closer while we enjoy the game that brings us together as a family.

We lost 15 from that family over the weekend and our hearts are heavy today remembering them.  The

service held last night in Humboldt shared with the world how hockey families share a common bond.

When the game is over we shake hands and all feel that it's just a game and this weekend's tragedy

proves that again.  It is just a game, what we take from that game is the love of it and our love and

respect for others.

The Foothills Bisons handed out their awards Saturday night at the Highwood Golf Club with heavy hearts

thinking of their Humboldt hockey family.  Thanks to Trent and Ted and the crew for inviting me to M/C once

again this year.  The Bantams had an awesome year with more than half of the team being awarded the

Scholastic Achievement Award. The Pee Wees and Midget teams both had mid season coaching changes

as a part of their seasons.  All in all it was another great season for the AA Bison Program.

Our guest  speaker was a AA, Okotoks Oiler & St. Norbert College Alumnist Mr Brandon Hoogenboom.

"Brandon's BIO"

Brandon grew up in Nanton where he played his minor hockey up until Bantam;

he then went on to play Bantam AAA in Okotoks. Brandon played his Midget AAA

with the Bisons in Strathmore. He then went on to play three seasons in the AJHL

for the Okotoks Oilers where he was the Co-captain his last year. He received a

scholarship to attend St. Norbert College in Green Bay Wisconsin where he played

four years. He was an assistant captain in his second year and captained the team his

last two seasons. During his time at college Brandon won three National Championships
