The High River Toyota dealership won't be on the move as quickly as they'd hoped.

Foothills County Council turned down their request to build a new dealership on the outskirts of Okotoks near where the Chev dealership is along Highway 2A at 322nd Avenue.

Reeve Suzanne Oel says issues with the road, and area landowners scuttled the deal.

"This location had a lot of conflict and basically the argument was this didn't fit within section five, which is just north of the Town of Okotoks."

Oel says their decision came down to a number of factors.

"Ultimately our reasons are stated as we have unresolved regional transportation issues, opposition from area landowners and a lack of consensus regarding an overall gateway corridor plan with the neighbouring Town of Okotoks."

Oel says the dealership has already started looking for an alternate location in Okotoks to move to.
