A new curriculum is coming into force in the fall and the Foothills School Division wants to be ready.

Assistant Superintendent of Learning Services, Caroline Roberts says the board's given the ok to recruit a dozen teachers to make sure the right tools are in place.

"We put forward a proposal to the board of trustees to support curriculum design and implementation, and put together a team to design that learning and the assessments and develop resources in preparing our system for the implementation of the curriculum, which would be starting in September" she says. "That would be within Language Arts, Math and Phys-ed and Wellness."

Roberts says it's all pending further information from Alberta Education regarding the implementation of those curriculums.

The teachers will work from July 4 to 29 to curate resources, create learning plans and attend any provincial working groups.

The total cost of the the Curriculum Implementation Team is about $120,000.

Alberta Education is expected to provide more details in April of this year.
