Following a delay, Alberta's online COVID information was updated on Wednesday evening (Sept. 8.)

The province has identified 1,166 new cases in the past 24 hours, with the active case count sitting at 15,618.

COVID hospitalizations have risen to 647, with 147 people in intensive care.

An additional 18 deaths were also confirmed, bringing the total to 2,425.

In terms of vaccinations, 78.7 per cent of eligible Albertans have received at least one dose, with 70.7 per cent being fully vaccinated.

Over 245,000 Albertans have recovered.

Locally, several regions in and around the Foothills are approaching 100 active cases.

The Town of Okotoks saw a particularly large spike, with 93 active cases compared to 75 the day prior.

Other areas showing high active case counts are Foothills County with 91 active cases and the MD of Willow Creek with 88.

- Vulcan County: 15 active cases
