The High River Flyers have removed the "interim" label from Head Coach Tyson Avery's title.

Flyers Team President Mike Bliss says Avery's "the man."

"We're really excited to have Tyson on board. He did a great job at the end of the season last year, just in refocusing the guys after the coaching change. With a whole year under his belt, I know he's going to do good things."

Avery took over the Flyers near the end of last season when the club fired Coach Bruce Cowie, promoting Avery from Assistant Coach.

Bliss says don't let the fact Avery's a younger coach fool you.

"Tyson's in the unique situation of being, not the same age as our players, but in a similar age bracket. He is as hard as nails, and expects a lot. Just because of the fact they're similar in age, the guys respect him for it, rather than take it the wrong way."

The Flyers hold their conditioning camp next weekend and open the season at home to the Cochrane Generals on Friday, September 16.
