The Alberta Government is looking for your help as it tries to balance the books and prepare a budget while suffering through some of the lowest oil prices in recent memory.

"The last thing I want to do is see people lose their jobs, that's lways in the back of my mind with everything we're going to do," said finance minister, Robin Campbell.

"The second thing is, are people happy with the tax system we have right now, understanding that we're going to have to do something different if they don't want their taxes raised?"

Campbell says with oil prices around $50 a barrel, he finds himself short about $6 billion compared to last year, when the price was above $100 a barrel.

He notes premier Prentice has already promised not to tinker with core programs like health care, education and seniors programs. However, everything else could be on the chopping block.

"One of the things I'm finding is that people really want to get off the roller coaster," adds Campbell. "There's a sense that people are tired of in good times we spend money and then in bad times, we're cutting back all the time."

No date for a new provincial budget has been set, but the minister promises it will be sometime later this spring.

In the meantime, the government has set up an online survey to get your views on the budget.  Follow this link.
