AUGUST 13, 1947 – JULY 20, 2016

Daryl passed away in High River Hospital following a year-long battle with cancer. Daryl was born and raised in Calgary and graduated from Mount Royal College with a diploma in Business Administration. He then attended the University of Calgary, where he earned a degree in Political Science and Education; he later earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Portland. He had a successful career with CBE working in several schools as a teacher and counselor, and ended his career as a Vice Principal at Lord Beaverbrook High School.

In addition to his education career, Daryl and Dianne established a ranch in the Black Diamond area, and over the next 3 decades Daryl and his family worked to build the ranch that gave him his purpose and his joy. Daryl was a leader with the Meadowbank 4H club when his kids were young. He enjoyed breeding and training quarter horses and the family did all of their cattle work using horses. He was very interested in cutting, competing in some local competitions. He also had an interest in antique cars and trucks and spent his later years restoring them. Daryl loved all aspects of the ranching life and his spirit rests there.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne; his son Scott (Page) and grandsons Jack and Casey; his daughter Erin (Clint) and grandchildren Layne and Logan; his mother, Margaret, his brother Eldon (Madeleine), his niece Shauna (Kerry) and their three children, and his sister-in-law, Marilyn Carter.
