This past weekend was full of celebration for Grade 12 students of Notre Dame Collegiate High School in High River, as their graduation ceremonies and celebration was held on Saturday, May 25.

Notre Dame Collegiate Principal Paul Dunphy says this year two Valedictorians were honoured.

"This year we have co-valedictorians, Sophia Fraser and Emily Hagens."

Dunphy says, the two young women gave a traditional speech to their class, with sage pieces of advice and some smart remarks for their teachers.

"There's some jabs at some of their teachers of course, but for most part it's a speech of thanksgiving and some shared wisdom moving forward."

This was the school's largest graduating class to date with 77 students happily crossing the stage.

So large, in fact, Dunphy says they had to go to Okotoks so they could all fit for Mass.

"The grad mass and ceremony we had to move to Okotoks to be in St. James Catholic Church as we've outgrown St. Francis De Sales in High River."

The dinner celebration and dance was held at the High River Memorial Centre.
