The Prime Minister's daily update on the COVID-19 virus included a more specific timeline on the closing of the Canada/U.S. border.

Justin Trudeau says it'll be happening this weekend.

"Canada and the United States have agreed to stop "non-essential" travel, specifically for tourism and recreation. Trade and commerce will continue. This takes place at midnight tonight (Friday, March 20).

In the meantime, Trudeau says he's looking to the private sector for help when it comes to the COVID-19 crisis.

He says many businesses have asked how they can help and he says they now have a plan to let them help.

"Today we're announcing a new strategy that will make it for companies to help out during this critical time. We are launching "Canada's Plan" to mobilize industry to help fight COVID-19, to ensure that we can quickly produce here in Canada the things we need. This initiative that will help company's that are already making things like masks, ventilators and hand sanitizer to massively scale up production."

Trudeau also says they and the Americans have reached a deal to return what he calls "irregular migrants" anywhere they try to cross the Canada/U.S. border.
