Black Diamond Residents are on the fast track for a new skatepark thanks to a generous donation from the Foothills Lions.

Campground Chairman for the Foothills Lions Club James Lee says this is a project that they are happy to support and after a presentation from project head Colin Flemming.

"Lions are community-based and helping out the community is big so we decided to jump in and help kickstart the campaign with a big donation so we decided to donate $25,000."

Lee says it's a project that will help to get more residents active in the community and they want to support that.

"The more that we can do to enhance these activities within the community the healthier people are going to be."

Project leader Colin Flemming provided a presentation to the Lions asking for them to help with the project.

Flemming will also be joining the Lions to help represent projects like this in the future.

"It's good for the community, it's good for the club and it's nice to see people like that stepping into that role."

The project has been hard at work lately and this donation will provide a big boost.
