It's time for the camping world to take over.

The George Lane Memorial Campground will officially open on May 1st.

The campground's manager Wolf Wilms says the park is both important to him and those who come to visit.

Wilms says it also gives them the opportunity to serve many people.

"It draws many people from across the country and all over the area" he says "I love the park and I treated like it's my own."

He says the man who carries the name funded the park and built it for the sole purpose of serving the people and he adds the town is always supportive of how the park operates even if it is privately owned.

"Lane specified the park was for the public" Wilms says "the Town never has an issue with the park and the whole community seems to be doing fine with it."

There's still plenty of work that needs to get done before the actual opening date but the manager says he has no problem doing all this work for the community.

The campground is named after George Lane who bought sections of land across Highwood River from the Queen back in 1912, after he saw children crying because their parents could not afford to go to the circus which was inside a park.

Wilms says his goal is to continue that legacy and allow families and friends to visit the campground.
