Premier Jason Kenney spoke on Monday morning on Alberta's vaccine rollout and last week's announcement of delayed shipments from Pfizer.

According to Kenney, Alberta's current supply of vaccinations will run out by the end of today or Tuesday.

Kenney says it will, of course, impact Alberta's vaccination plans.

"I'm deeply disappointed at the situation that we are now facing. The news on January 15th that Pfizer shipments would be cut by 20-80% over coming weeks only adds to that frustration, and we've had to change our vaccination plan accordingly."

Though more shipments of the Pfizer vaccine are set to arrive in coming weeks, they'll be allocating those resources in order to focus on second doses for those who have already recieved their first.

Kenney says appointments for first doses will, in turn, have to be postponed.

"By pausing first appointments, we can ensure enough vaccine is allocated for committed second dose appointments. Second dose appointments will not be cancelled, and we believe that we can administer second doses to all those that need them within the recommended time frame."

According to Kenney, Alberta is currently able to deliver 50,000 doses a week, though the province currently does not have the supply to do so.

The premier was able to deliver some good news about the vaccine rollout, with all the province having delivered first doses to all 357 of Alberta'slong-term care and designated supported living facilities.
