The Alberta Wheat Commission is looking for farmers to guide the organization on behalf of wheat producers.

They've opened nominations to fill a Director-at-Large position which represents all five regions in Alberta.

They're also accepting nominations for one Director and three Regional Representatives in Region Three.

Region Three stretches province-wide between Innisfail and Ponoka.

Commission Chair, Kevin Bender, says it's a great opportunity to take a leadership role in the industry.

"This past year alone, AWC has had direct impact on creating a new Canadian Prairie Red Spring variety – AAC Crossfield, lobbied for the adoption of Bill C-49 and became an administrator of the federal Advance Payments Program. I would highly encourage anyone interested in leading the wheat industry forward to put their name up for election."

Nomination forms must be submitted in writing to the Commission office by Wednesday, October 31.
