A year after being cut by the Calgary Stampeders at the end of training camp and after a short stint with the B.C. Lions last season, Okotoks Anthony Parker, has landed with the Edmonton Eskimos.

The former first round draft pick says B.C. didn't sign him after last season but Edmonton wanted him.

"Long story short they were asking me to wait on a couple of people they were trying to sign. And at that time there were a bunch of Canadian receivers still unsigned and I was looking at it as soon as I got this opportunity to be be able to come back to Alberta, play for a great franchise, I jumped at it. I didn't wait for a contract offer to come from B.C. so, that's how we ended up here."

Parker already has Saturday, August 3, circled on his calendar, as that's when the Eskimos come to McMahon for their first meeting of the season with the Stamps.

"Of course man! You know me, I've been known to do a couple of things on Labour Day, so that's the other big one that's in my books, It'll be cool to be on the other side."

He says he's excited to be there and have All-Star quarterback, Trevor Harris, throwing him the ball.

"He's taken on a leadership role and he's a great guy to work with. That's another thing that I'm excited about to be coming here. To be perfectly honest with you I think he's probably the most accurate quarterback in the league and throws a great ball. Should be a lot of fun."

Parker, along with fellow Okotokian, Hunter Karl, who was drafted by the Eskimos last month, were both stars with the Foothills Composite Falcons and the University of Calgary Dinosaurs before heading to the pro ranks.

Parker and the Eskimos face the Lions Sunday, May 26 in Edmonton.
