A good weekend of rugby for the Highwood Mustangs girls in Calgary at the Annual Calgary Irish "Ice Breaker" Tournament.

The girls got things going Saturday, April 13, with a 19-5 win over Crescent Heights.

They took on Calgary's Western Canada high school next, who had more than 50 players on their bench, and played all their grade twelve's against the Mustangs.

The Mustangs held on for a bit, but in the end couldn't stop the powerful Western squad, losing 27-5.

The Mustangs bounced back with a big effort of their own in their final match of the day, beating Bishop O'Byrne 25-0 to finish the tournament with a 2-and-1 record.

The girls hit the road Tuesday, April 16, as they're in Cochrane to face Bow Valley.
