Alberta's latest COVID-19 numbers show variant cases continuing their rapid spread.

887 new cases were identified on Sunday, with 432 of them being variant cases.

In total, 10,582 active cases have been identified in Alberta, with 38% of those being variants.

Locally, the province's data for municipalities shows 105 active cases in the Town of Okotoks, with 45 in High River and 8 in Vulcan County.

Their broader geographic data shows six cases in the Black Diamond/Turner Valley area and five in the Claresholm region.

312 Albertans are being treated in hospitals with 76 of those intensive care.

With 4 additional deaths since April 1st, the total number of fatalities has risen to 1998.

Though Dr. Deena Hinshaw didn't provide a live update, she did provide some information via her Twitter account, including information on two P1 variant outbreaks.

One is linked to a "large employer with multiple sites across Western Canada," having been started by an individual returning to Alberta from another province. Three work sites in the Central and North zone have been connected, with 26 cases identified. According to Hinshaw, only three of those are P1 variant cases.

The other outbreak is at a workplace in the Calgary zone, where five cases have been confirmed, one of them being a P1 variant case.
