There's only two and half months left until the Calgary Stampede and local athletes from around the Foothills have once again been invited to represent their communities at the Calgary Stampede Rodeo.

This year we have at least one local in every event to lend your support to.

Clay Elliott from Nanton will participate in the Saddle Bronc event, while fellow Nanton cowboy Logan Bird get's set for tie down roping.

Kylie Whiteside out of Longview will test her metal in a race against time for the ladies barrel racing event.

Jake Vold from Airdrie returns to the Stampede to compete in Bareback Riding, as does Tyler Milan from Cochrane in Steer Wrestling.

In perhaps the most popular event, Jordan Hanson and Brock Radford will take on returning champ Marcos Gloria from Edmonton in Bull Riding.

The 2019 Calgary Stampede kicks off on Friday, July 5, with rodeo athletes from all over the world vying for a part of $2 million in prize money.
