The big party may be in Edmonton for Grey Cup this weekend, but Fort McMurray is hosting a party of it's own as the Town is home to the high school provincial football championships Saturday, November 24.

Okotoks Holy Trinity Academy Knights will be there as they take on Lloydminster for the Tier II crown.

Knights Coach Matt Hassett says he felt this year, might be the year for his team right from the start.

"I thought we had a really good shot at doing it. I knew from Spring camp and back in August that we had a very talented team. But a lot of times it's not just talent that gets your there, it's a lot of hard work and guys coming together at the same time and staying healthy."

That wasn't always the case this year though, as the Knights struggled a bit mid-season with a rash of injuries that led to three straight losses.

However, they got healthy at the right time and have been having a heck of a ride every since.

Hassett says the players are enjoying that ride, as it's the teams best season ever.

"It's a great group of kids. They really get along well. And that's huge for a football team to me. I'm a little biased, but it's kind of the ultimate team sport to get 45 people all pulling in the same direction and you know, it's really worked out for us. They've done a great job and they just love playing for each other."

As for the Grey Cup, Hassett says he's cheering for the Calgary Stampeders and in particular for one of his old players, Charlie Power, who's a standout with the Stamps on special teams.

This is the first time the HTA Knights have appeared in a provincial championship.
