Alberta Beef Producers fall meetings are now underway across the province.

The 27 meetings, which started on Monday, October 22, will take place over the next three weeks in the commission's nine zones across Alberta.

Alberta Beef Producers' Chair, Charlie Christie, says the fall meetings are the most effective way to get feedback on their work from cattle producers.

"They set the direction for the coming year. They also give us an audience to let producers know the progress we have made on last year's direction that they gave us."

Alberta Beef Producers represents the collective interest of the more than 18,000 beef cattle producers in Alberta.

Christie says, producers will also be be able to vote whether their check-off dollars will change to non-refundable at the fall meetings.

"Producers have the opportunity now to decide how their commission should be funded, and the industry has a chance to invest another approximately $2.5 million annually into strategic projects that will just make our industry stronger."

Tuesday night's meetings are taking place at the Taber Agriplex , Provost Livestock Exchange, Big Valley Community Hall, and Camrose Regional Exhibition with a free supper at 6:00pm.

The meetings then get going at 7:00 pm. For more locations and dates, you can visit their website.
