Fort McMurray residents who will look to the Province's Disaster Relief Program, will have the High River DRP Advocacy Committee to thank for the easier time they'll likely have dealing with the program.

Committee Chair Jim Ross says after years of work telling the government what's wrong with the program, the government is listening.

"We've made innumerable recommendations to the government that they've adopted already. We have many more recommendations we'd like to see them adopt, that the government is analyzing right now. But I don't think there's any doubt the work we've done already is going to make life easier for the applicants in Fort McMurray."

Ross says the single biggest change that will make a difference is the government will assign one case worker to each file, unlike the previous model which had files being shuffled from person to person.
