Sometimes the less time you have to prepare, the better the results are.

On online contest for Winter Walk Day at Shape Alberta caught the attention of employees at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex and with less than 24 hours to plan the event they threw in their walking shoes.

And the results were pretty good.

"We had 93 participants walking for 4029 minutes," said Tracy Morgan, recreation administrator and programming supervisor. "We thought we would jump in and see how we could compete."

She also wanted to show Alberta that High River residents are active.

"I've only been here for four weeks and I'm very surprised at how many people use our walking track on a daily basis."

"I thought this would be an awesome venture to see how many people we get out on any given day."

Plans are already in motion to take part next year, and with a year to plan, it will be bigger and better.
