There is a fire affecting the Chimney Rock Road area of the MD of Ranchlands.

The fire is being fuelled by high winds in the area and there is heavy smoke affecting visibility and creating hazardous road conditions.

Highway 22 south of Chain Lakes is currently closed and traffic being redirected onto Highway 533 to Nanton.

Residents in the area are being urged to prepare for possible evacuation.

Take all necessary precautions and avoid the area if possible.

Visibility will be affected and follow the directions of local authorities
