Four candidates are vying for the vacant seat on High River Town Council in next months by-election.

One, is former Routes Magazine Publisher Sandra Wiebe who's called High River home for the last 10 years.

She says if she's elected, a priority would be making Council decisions more easily understandable.

"I'd like to see more people becoming educated with what council does, and how council goes through the process. So that when things are finished and decided, there's not a whole lot of grumbling and complaining because they don't understand."

Wiebe along with former Councillor Jamie Kinghorn, Police Committee Member Terry Coleman and local businessman Mike Nychyk are all looking to fill the seat left vacant with the departure of Peter Loran.

The vote goes Monday, October 17.
