The reigning Miss Teen Canada-Charity, popped by our studios Tuesday morning to show off her brand new crown.

High River's Chantel Wiebe is back from her big win in Toronto and says standing on stage Saturday was a bit nerve wracking waiting for her name to be called.

"I was definitely a little bit nervous. They told me before I was going to be getting an international title. So I was definitely very, very excited, but it was my dad, who was the loudest one screaming."

Dad, of course is High River Fire Fighter Ryan Wiebe, who says he couldn't be prouder of his daughter.

One aspect of the pageant, which has generated some controversy in recent years, has been the swimsuit competition, with many feminist groups claiming it's degrading to women.

Wiebe says she took it all in stride.

"Honestly, I think it's a chance for girls to express confidence in themselves, but they're also going to kind of, in future years, lean more towards 'active wear' than swim wear."

Chantel, as part of her win, needs to make plenty of appearances around the area to promote herself and the pageant.

She says she may even make a trip to either South Korea or Finland this year as part of her duties.

Keep an eye out for the reigning Miss Teen Canada - Charity over the next year as Chantel Wiebe will be at events, not just all over the Foothills, but around the world.
