Summer roadway construction has begun on Highway 2A between High River and Okotoks.

A new seal coat is being applied to preserve the roadway, and with that comes slow moving traffic.

James Mills, Project Coordinator of West-Can Seal Coating Inc., is encouraging drivers to treat this stretch of highway like a gravel road.

Mills says the most important things for drivers to remember is to abide by posted speed limits to avoid windshield chips and vehicle damage.

The construction is expected to continue into late next week.

Mills encourages drivers to find alternative routes in the meantime.
