School is out for the summer and that means the kids are out and about trying to keep entertained.

High River RCMP want to remind drivers to keep a close eye on the road as the kids might not be paying attention.

Staff Sgt. Robin Alexander says you can expect children to be in playgrounds all over town.

'As we know kids don't always think before they run out in the street," said Alexander. "We want people to drive slowly, be careful, especially in those areas that have schools and playgrounds zones."

Alexander says it will be nice when High River passes a new bylaw that harmonizes playgrounds and school zones.

"There is a lot of grey area around what the timing is and when you harmonize both of them they are in effect all year round and at consistent times and it just just eliminates that confusion."

It is never a good idea to look at your electronic devices or other distractions while driving, it is a really bad idea to take your eyes off the road when the kids are out of school.

"Stay off your cell phones. Keep them in your pocket, turn them off whatever the case may be. We are still seeing lots of that out there and we are still doing lots of enforcement. We just want people to stay safe."
