A crime of opportunity is what police call a running vehicle in the winter with the keys inside.

This time of year sees an increase in vehicle thefts due to the weather conditions and vehicle owners not taking the proper steps to help prevent these types of crimes.

The best bet is a remote car starter, or starting your vehicle with a spare set of keys and then locking the doors, while it warms up.

Keeping your vehicle in a heated garage is the best case scenario, as you're usually able to just get in and go without having to warm it up first.
