We all know that desperate feeling we have in the pit of our stomach when we lose our keys.

Well this month, The War Amps are continuing the long tradition of helping to return lost keys to their owners.

Shannon Krasowski says, the key tag has a nine-digit number that corresponds to the information they have on file.

"If you happen to lose your keys and on your key chain you have our key tag, it's just a simple nine digit code that has your name and address information only that's attached to that key tag, not on the tag, but you provide it to the War Amps, it's all confidential information and basically with just that little bit of information we can send the keys back to the owner free of charge," she says.

She says with today's technology, replacing some keys can cost hundreds of dollars.

Krasowski, who's an amputee herself, says the War Amps really helped her as a child and the keytags support a beneficial and meaningful cause.

"It goes for a great cause so that the War Amps can assist child amputees in Alberta with recreational limbs so that they have a chance to be able to participate in sports, like hockey and being able to go to pool parties like I did with my swim leg," she says. "In my situation, I couldn't use my regular walking leg in the water and so I had to have a specialized leg and that type of recreational limb is not funded through any type of government grant programs."

She says War Amps also does a lot for veterans of past, and more recent, wars.

Key tags should be arriving in the mail any day.
