The wildfire in the Verdant Creek area continues to cause problems for people traveling in the Bow and Columbia Valleys.

Parks Canada says visitors and residents should expect increased smoke as temperatures continue to rise.

Some of the trails in the Sunshine Village area have been reopened but hiking is only allowed on designated trails.

Rock Isle, Meadow Park, Twin Carrins and Standish Veiwing Loop are all open.

The trails to Laryk and Grizzley Lakes in Mount Assiniboine Park remain closed.

A temporary camp for fire crews is being established near the Kootenay National Park administration building in Radium Hot Springs and in the Two Jack Main campground in Banff.

Containment lines are being re-established or built in three locations, the north end of Kootenay Park, at Vermillion Pass and further south in the Beaverfoot Valley at Luxor Pass.
