The High River RCMP along with the High River Fire Department remain on the scene of a crash from early Tuesday morning on Highway 2 just North of High River.

High River RCMP detachment Sergeant Brent Hawker says the crash has had one fatality.

He won't say who was killed in the crash, until they've investigated further and notified next of kin.

However a release from AHS's Emergency Medical Services, says the deceased is a man, but they don't know his age.

A woman, in her 60's, was taken to hospital and suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Foothills Hospital in Calgary by ground ambulance.

The driver of the grain truck was unhurt.

Hawker says they got the call around 7:15 Tuesday morning.

"We received a call on Highway 2, north of the High River overpass of a three vehicle motor vehicle collision. Members attended. The three vehicles, a mini-van, a smaller passenger car and a grain truck. Currently we're in the midst of shutting down the highway and we have a collision re-constructionist coming that will assist us in the investigation."

Debris is scattered across much of the Northbound lanes of Highway 2, which is why RCMP have chosen to close the road until they can conclude their investigation.

In the meantime, traffic in the Northbound lanes of Highway 2 had been shut down North of High River with traffic being detoured at the 498th Avenue overpass either West to the 2-A or East to secondary roads, that lead back to Highway 2.

The names of the victims have not been released.
