The Heritage Inn International Balloon Festival in High River is set to take off this week and they're trying a couple new things this year.

Jamie Kinghorn says with the new location at Spitzee School patients in the High River hospital on all three floors will have a great view and adds people will be able to get really close to a balloon this year.

"We're trying a couple of new things this year, we're going to have a balloon laying on the ground over at Spitzee so people will be able to come up and go inside the balloon and walk around and check out what it's like on the inside."

Kinghorn says they want to bring a little joy into everyone's day and that includes those that are in the hospital.

"We've talked to the hospital and people that are mobile enough to come outside they're going to bring them out along the pathway and along the fence line."

Kinghorn says he's excited about the new location.

"This year with the move to Spitzee and the school has been really supportive and the High River hospital is backing us 100% so we're really excited to put on a show over there."

He says they will also be streaming the events live to their facebook page this year.

Weather permitting the event is set to go September 21-25.
