If you're one of the increasing number of people using 16th Avenue in Turner Valley to bypass Black Diamond, expect to see plenty of traffic enforcement this year.

The popular road has seen its speed limit drop from 80 km/h to 50 km/h through Town, and Municipal Enforcement Supervisor Trevor Bowman says modern technology is leading to more traffic.

"What we found, thanks to technology, is people using their GPS's are looking for the shortest route to get from north of Turner Valley down south of Longview. A lot of people their GPS's are sending them up through 16th Avenue onto 434th Avenue and back onto Highway 22 again.

Bowman says the increase in traffic, has led to the increase in enforcement.

He says another factor is the new traffic light in Black Diamond which he says will send people heading to Highway 22 onto 16th Avenue in larger numbers.
