The Town of Turner Valley will soon be able to better serve those with disabilities.

It was announced this week by the Federal Government that the town will be receiving $10,000 through the Enabling Accessibility Fund.

The money will be used to install a new Aqua Handi-Lift portable chair at the town's pool and spray park.

Macleod MP John Barlow says the town will now be able to draw in visitors from surrounding communities.

"I think it's really going to help that community in terms of not only helping their own residents but residents from around the region will be able to come to Turner Valley to utilize that pool and the spray park," he says. "It's going to be a great benefit for the community."

Barlow says the government wants to make sure smaller communities are properly equipped.

"One of the reasons we put this Enabling Accessibility Program in place was that we want to make sure some of these smaller rural communities have the opportunity to access these funds and to ensure the programs and facilities they have are accessible to all residents and that's really the key."

Each year the Enabling Accessibility Fund commits $15 million to improving accessibility to facilities across the country.

Barlow says we can expect to hear two more announcements made for other communities receiving support through the EAF.
