Thanks to a grant from the Calgary Foundation, the Town of High River is looking to hire Canadian-based artists to design and complete one of two new murals.

Parks and culture coordinator with the Town, Sarah Mitchell, says artists are encouraged to submit their design proposals to the Town by August 19, then the next step will be for residents to vote on their favourite designs.

"We want this process to have lots of public engagement," Mitchell says. "We want the public to have their say."

She says the murals must depict the town in a positive way.

"We're not looking for something that focuses on the flood. We're looking for a positive spin of how we're coming out of this process," she says, adding the murals should be a physical reminder of the town's spirit and strength.
