High River Town Council's been dotting some "I's" and crossing some "T's" in relation to their new planned fibre optic network.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says in the short term the service will be aimed at businesses, as they're critical to the Town's growth.

"The fibre will primarily be business. In downtown, there's some going up 12th Avenue and some in the Southeast, in that industrial corridor there to get things started. And once we get it set and kind of get everything positioned corporately and kind of get this thing running through the Town, then we can start to branch out residentially."

Snodgrass says right now they're dealing with a lot of paperwork leading up to the actual construction of the network.
