The snow brushes and snow blowers will be out in full force again this winter in High River.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says council got a look at the plans at its Committee Of the Whole meeting last week.

"What we were talking about was the level of service between our downtown sidewalk street cleaning and now with the additional sidewalks and cleaning on Centre Street," he says. "Council decided the town will continue with the same level of service that we have for a number of years now with downtown, it's extremely important to us that we keep our downtown clear and accessible for people and we're going to provide the same service on Centre Street."

The report provided by the Manager of Operational Services Eugene Lund spelled out different scenarios council could consider and outlined the costs associated with what was done in the past.

It was pointed out in the report that the Town bought 28,000 litres of beet juice brine to activate salt when clearing streets of ice and snow at a cost of just over $12,000.

The Town still has about half of that left over from last year.

Street sweeping materials collected in the spring of 2019 were stockpiled and reprocessed for reuse during the 2019/2020 winter season.
