Its time for us adults to once again roll up a sleeve and get flu shots for the upcoming flu season.

Flu shots are available at numerous health facilities and pharmacies throughout the Foothills.

Pharmasave Owner Jason Spicer says if you think you're covered from getting a shot last year... think again.

"The vaccine doesn't last the entire year, it lasts eight to nine months in the body and that's to take us over the winter spell but it does eventually wear off so it is a good idea to get it done ever," he says.

Spicer says the shots are different every year protecting us from numerous types of influenza he says the shots this year cover many different strains.

"We've got a California strain, one from Switzerland and then one from Phuket," he says. "Flu mist which is indicated for children between the age of 2-17 actually has four, so they've actually added one from Bolivia into that one, so its an interesting mix this year."

When asked if getting the shot was worth it, Spicer responded with this.

"If you can afford to take three to four days out of your life this winter to deal with an illness, then no you don't need a shot this year, not many individuals can afford to take that, we've got working mothers, we got families and generally there is no reason not to get it."
