Clocks aren't the only thing that needs changing this weekend.

So do batteries in CO and smoke detectors.

High River Fire Prevention Officer Clayton Rutberg says that mean's all your detectors.

"Even if your smoke detector is hard wired into the power in your house, a lot of those detectors have "back up" batteries in them, and they need to be changed as well."

He says carbon monoxide detectors are important too, and says if you don't have one, you should have one on each level of your home.

He says it's also a good time to check the expiry dates on all your detectors as most are only good for 10 years.

Rutberg says if you do have to replace or add detectors it's not a bad idea to look at a combination CO & smoke detectors.
