Fans of the popular video game series "The Last of Us" may have a chance to be onscreen with their favorite characters.

A casting call has gone out for the local area including High River, Okotoks, Fort MacLeod and the Lethbridge area.

HBO's The Last of Us, which will star Pedro Pascal of The Mandalorian and Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones, will be starting production in the province on July 5, and wrapping up in June of 2022.

Locals looking to be a part of the project can get involved by filling out an extras application form as well as attaching a current photo of themselves.

After filling out the application you can send your information to tlouextras@gmail.com.

Brock Skretting, Head of Advocacy for Keep Alberta Rolling says almost everyone is welcome to apply.

"People over the age of 18 is the only thing, but all ages and ethnicities are welcome. They're just looking for a variety of people and they did cast a wide net for some in Alberta."

They aren't just looking for you, however, says Skretting. They are also looking for your car.

"This is one of those pieces that needs period vehicles. Not taking place in present-day but taking place, you know, in the 2000s era so vehicles between 1995 and 2003 is what they're looking for."

He mentions it's a one-of-a-kind way to have your car immortalized in film.

"I think a lot of Albertans feel like their car is an extension of a family. So it would be kind of cool to see your wheels on-screen as well!"

Skretting adds it's wonderful to have a studio giant like HBO film in our area.

"We're very grateful to have such a great company coming in and doing such an important show in Alberta... HBO, to me, is synonymous with quality, so we know that they're going to be putting a lot of effort into matching the quality of the game and I know they the big gamers in their eyes have all pretty much agreed that the Last of Us is one of the most cinematic games that has ever been made, so it makes total sense that they would expand upon that and make it a television series."

The series will not only offer the opportunity for locals to be on the screen but it also puts a lot of Albertans to work.

"Carpenters and greens people. Organizers and painters, office staff, and administration like there's going to be a tonne of work with this."
