George Lane Park is finally complete with the return of the Centennial stage.

Parks Supervisor Tannis Webb says it was a long time coming but worth the wait.

"The stage will be fifty years old next year and Rotary did a Calgary Foundation Grant and got some money and had a desire to rebuild it and I've been working with them to make that happen."

She says this was a collaborative project involving representation from the High River rotary club, Highwood Lions Club, the High River and District Recreation Board, The Arts and Culture Board and the Town of High River.

Webb says she's confident it will attract even more people to the park.

"It's located in George Lane Memorial Park kind of in the heart of High River. It's used for big outdoor events within the park like Canada Day, bands and concerts, it's just a great outdoor forum."

She says the finishing touches are all that's left.

"An official re-opening hasn't been planned yet but this week is the installation of the stage, there will be a little bit of finishing that will come later but this week is the week that it all comes together."
