With great weather in the forecast and over $4 million in prize money, Spruce Meadows is looking forward to another great year for the Masters Tournament.

The event runs September 6-10, and draws crowds from all over the world.

Spruce Meadows Sr. Vice President, Ian Allison, says Team Canada looks strong and historic going into the Masters.

"We've got the great Ian Millar, the ageless one, we get Canada's three time Olympic medallist Eric Lamaze with Fine Lady, and Keean White has been named to Team Canada. He earned his position through very strong results this summer at Spruce Meadows."

Allison says, they're also glad to have a great rider come back and join their team.

"The roster is welcoming back the great Mario Delauriers, who has been riding for the United States of America for the last decade. But, his heritage got the better part of him, and he's decided to start carrying the maple leaf again."

To help capture the Canada 150 theme, Spruce Meadows will be continuing their tradition of the RCMP musical rides, as well as swearing in 50 new Canadian citizens in the British House on the grounds.

With some interesting weather in the past, Spruce Meadows is looking forward to some good conditions for the sport this year.

"We've dealt with just about everything in our 42 year history from snow, to hail, to winds in June that blew all the fences down. But, it's looking encouraging if the smoke stays away."

Allison says, no matter what your stage, age, or interest, the Spruce Meadows Masters has something for everyone.

Workers were busy preparing the ring September 5, the day before the Tournament.
