High River will host the Terry Fox Run this year, on Sept. 20. Organizer, Brenda McCredie, says the run hasn't been here for the last two years, but with the size of High River now they are hoping to get more people out to raise funds.

"We really want to encourage people to come out," she says. "It's a free event, but the goal is to raise money of course, for the Terry Fox Foundation. So, you can collect pledges or just make a donation that morning. We'll have tables set up."

It is the 35th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run, and to date the run has raised close to $700-million worldwide.

McCredie says this year they're also looking for donations to help put the run on.

"Because this is a volunteer-driven event, we get no money at all from the Terry Fox Foundation to do the run. So, we're looking for donations for the rental of the shelter at George Lane Park, for water, for the snacks for the participants, so if anyone is interested in donating to that they can give me a call as well."

This year will be a five kilometre route, beginning at group Site B in George Lane Park. Registration will begin at 9:15 a.m., with a 10 o'clock start.
