The Town of High River doesn't have a formal policy for swearing in elected officials.

The head of Legislative Services for the Town, Kara Rusk presented Council with a policy at their last meeting, and asked if they had suggestions or feedback.

Most of it surrounded who swears in the Mayor.

After the last election, the former Mayor at the time, Councillor Emile Blokland did it and it was suggested that remain the case, the outgoing Mayor swear in the new Mayor, and when that's not possible, the Town Manager handle the swearing in ceremonies.

Rusk told Council they want to adhere to provincial legislation while maintaining the celebratory elements of the ceremony.

Administration will bring the policy back with suggested changes.
